While commenting on a new profile-related post in ljspeaks , marta emphacized the following:

"....One of the lines out of one of those posts have stuck with me, and I'll probably mangle it, but I think you'll see what I mean. Brad said something like:

"I'm not looking for the most popular opinion. There might be a candy out there that's great, and 99% of the people say 'I love this candy, it's the best candy ever.' But then one person will say 'I'm a doctor and a researcher and here are the studies showing this candy poses a grave health risk and it should be avoided at all costs.' Well, I'm going to listen to that one voice more than all the others, aren't I?"

Although how I'm saying it might be convoluted, that's really more how things happen. Finding the best possible reasons for or against something is the best way to get things changed or fixed. That's one of the reasons that we read through all of the comments, and each one kind of has its own weight, it's not always a cumulative effect."

Now, a lot of feedback on the modification of the new profile has been given. Some of the suggestions that keep coming up are: The horizontal lines/sectional breaks/dividers need to be removed, the statistics at the top of the page should be moved to the bottom or another place, the bio should be made more prominent on the page, there is too much white and the empty spaces needs to be removed or filled, redundant information, such as the section headers, needs to be removed, the text/links under Interests, Communities, etc. should be underlined like they were in the old profile, and the new profile needs to be more streamlined as a whole.

Question 1: What are some good reasons behind your suggested modifications? Why should the horizontal lines be removed, for example? (This question refers specifically to your feedback/opinions on "modifications" of the new profile layout.)

Question 2: If you think changing the layout back is the best choice, what are some good reasons supporting that claim? If you think sticking with the new layout is the best choice? If you think an opt-out is the best choice? (Answer according to your viewpoint)

Apart from staying on each question's specific topic, you may answer however they apply to you. Also, an inappropriate answer for this would be something like "The new profile is ugly" or "The new profile is so much prettier". Try to give concrete, thought-out responses.

Please post a link (URL) of the comment you most agree with concerning specific modifications. The comment can be from anywhere on Livejournal, as long as it is referring to suggestions and feedback on how the new layout can be changed to better suit users, for whatever reason that may be.
